Deputies say SC man threw gasoline on family members, tried to set them on fire
CHAPIN, S.C. (WACH) - A Lexington County man has been arrested after police say he tried to set his house on fire with family members inside Tuesday morning.
According to arrest warrants, 47-year-old Mark Allen Bell has been charged with three counts of attempted murder after family members told deputies he poured gasoline on the floor of his home and threw it on multiple people while making threats.
“Those inside the home were able to take a gas can, lighter and cigarettes away from him before a fire began,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said. “We’re extremely fortunate that no one was seriously injured during this incident.”
Bell is being held at the Lexington County Detention Center on a $225,000 bond.
