Deputies searching for man accused of assaulting wife with box cutter

LEXINGTON COUNTY (WACH) - A Gaston man accused of assaulting his wife with a box cutter is wanted by the Lexington County Sheriff's Department.
James Christopher Shawver, 35, is wanted on arrest warrants on charges of attempted murder and kidnapping. Authorities describe Shawver as being 5-foot-6, weighing 180 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes.
Shawver is accused of cutting his wife with a box cutter in the neck and arms more than 20 times on Thursday, April 18 at their home on Tamara lane during an argument.
Arrest warrants say Shawver's wife ran out of their home after being cut on her arms. She was caught by Shawver and dragged into the woods, where she escaped. She was caught again and stabbed in the neck. She was then dragged into the couple's car, but she jumped out of the car and sought help at a neighbor's home, according to Metts.
Metts says the victim was taken to the hospital where she was listed in serious condition. The car was later found by deputies in a ditch near Swansea with blood inside and a box cutter on the floor.
