NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- South Carolina is honoring Boeing for its environmental record.
State Department of Health and Environmental Control Director Catherine Templeton is scheduled to visit the aerospace manufacturer's North Charleston plant on Tuesday.
Boeing is being honored as the newest member of the South Carolina Environmental Excellence Program for its environmental accomplishments. Members of the program are being honored for helping protect the environment by reducing pollution and reducing the consumption of energy and other resources.
Boeing has a solar array on the roof of its 787 assembly plant that is the largest rooftop solar installation in the Southeast, ranked by production capacity. The array generates 2.6-megawatts of power.
