Senators pass a bill that allows guns in bars and restaurants.
Thu, 25 Apr 2013 15:15:00 GMT — COLUMBIA (WACH) -- South Carolina Senators passed a bill that would allow concealed weapon permit holders carry their guns in bars and restaurants until midnight. Sumter Sen. Thomas McElveen, III said that he was reluctant to vote for the bill at first, but after the midnight time restriction was added to the bill, the Democratic senator admits he was willing to compromise. "Even though I wasn't thrilled about it, I feel like what we passed is better than what could have came out of it," said McElveen. Jet Nightclub owner Myron Chin disagrees with McElveen, and expresses that the bill is dangerous. "I was wondering if the Legislature was just stuck on stupid, honestly," said Chin. Chin thinks the law would be to hard to regulate and merely impossible to pinpoint offenders. Filip Rispeski shares the same views when it comes to carrying guns in bars and restaurants. "They are not allowed to drink when they carry inside the bars or the restaurants, but there are a lot of people around that will be drinking and problems can happen just like that," said Rispeski. The bill is set to go before the House of Representatives for possible passage next week.
