Thu, 23 Jan 2014 21:27:35 GMT — LANCASTER COUNTY, SC (WACH) -- The Lancaster Animal Control has spent Thursday fighting to find homes for animals in their shelter. On Thursday the shelter's Facebook page had animal groups and lovers up in arms. The post said that after a recent hoarding case "The Shelter has extremely limited space and no ideas as to the extent of the hoard. Any and all animals that are off stray hold and 'Available Now' will be euthanized TODAY". Animal Shelter director Joel Hinson says they've found homes for the animals thanks to the help of rescue groups. "If some rescue groups didn't come get the animals, they would have to be euthanized, but it looks like that won't happen," said Hinson. Hinson says The Humane Society of Lancaster and the Lancaster SPCA are among the groups that stepped in to save the animals. The animal shelter is running low on space after assisting law enforcement on a hoarding case. Hinson says they seized ten dogs, six cats and 19 chickens. While Hinson says the animals all seem to be in good shape, he points out the living conditions at the home was in humane for the animals.
