      Family escapes early morning fire

An early morning fire has left a family homeless.

COLUMBIA (WACH) - An early morning fire has left a family homeless.

A Columbia Fire Department spokesperson said two adults and three children were in their Denman Loop home at Lake Carolina when the fire broke out.

Fire crews say the fire started in the rear of the home but quickly spread all the way to the attic.

Early reports indicate the fire may have started from a grill after the previous dayâ??s cook out.

Fire crews said no one was injured in the fire.

The American Red Cross is providing assistance to the family and the Richland County fire marshal is investigating the cause of Monday's fire.
