Lexington, S.C. (WACH) - Helen George says she's keeping her Christmas tree up until her son Michael comes home. The 22 year old was last seen two days before Christmas at Shooters Bar and Grill on Charleston Highway. "He asked me to go with him,â?? said George. â??I said, I have to work Christmas Eve, I got a little bit of shopping to do for you and the grandkids. To this day, I feel guilty I didn't go with him."
Lexington County investigators have spoken to a person they say took George home from the bar, but so far no arrests or fresh leads into what happened to him. "Supposedly, he gave him a ride and he took him to his home, and then the individual told him he left his home," said Sheriff James Metts.
Family members and friends fanned out to look for Michael after several calls to his cell phone went unanswered. They found his abandoned car Christmas Day on a lonely stretch of Beckman Road, near South Congaree.
Michaelâ??s mother says her son; a father of two was looking forward to spending the Christmas weekend with his children.
"This is his life right here, these two little kids. He loves them. I talked to him, he said Mama, I love them to death, and I said I know you do." George is hoping a late Christmas miracle will reunite her son with his children sometime soon.
