Father charged with homicide faces additional charges

COLUMBIA (WACH) -- Aquien Jamal Miller, 22, has been arrested and charged with abuse/to inflict great bodily injury upon a child on top of homicide charges of 7-week-old.
Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott states that Miller was served an additional warrant for child abuse.
Between May 15, 2012 and Sept. 17, 2012 Miller did forcefully shake and squeeze his biological 1-year-old daughter causing serious injuries to her upper and lower body.
Sheriff Leon Lott also stated that Richland County Sheriffâ??s Department Investigators charged Miller with homicide by child abuse on Monday, Aug. 12, 2013 for the death of his 7-week-old son.
Sheriff Lott stated that progress has been made to improve the quality of life for children, but there is still work to be done in order to protect them. Sheriff Lott goes on to that that we must shield our children from the emotional, sexual, neglect, and physical abuse that those with sick minds inflict upon them.
