ORANGEBURG, SC (WACH) - A father and son were arrested Friday after twenty marijuana plants were discovered by Orangeburg County investigators during the execution of a search warrant in Neeses.
According to Sheriff Leroy Ravenell, investigators noticed a strong odor coming from an outdoor shed while investigating marijuana plants being grown inside a home on Greatview Road.
Ravenell says the officers located 20 marijuana plants inside the shed on the property of the home. Three handguns, a 12 gauge shotgun, and a .22 caliber automatic rifle were also taken from the property.
Authorities arrested Richard Neal Jennings, 49, on a charge of manufacturing marijuana after reportedly telling investigators that the marijuana plants were his. His son, Brandon Lee Jennings, 19, is charged with possession of marijuana after marijuana and other paraphernalia were found in his room.
â??Our narcotic investigations are producing some outstanding results. We are locating some elaborate operations and making arrests in areas of the county that have not seen this type of consistent results in a while. We are grateful to concerned citizens for providing us vital information to begin our investigations into unlawful activity in our county," said Ravenell.
Richard Jennings is out of jail on a $20,000 bond and Brandon Jennings is out of jail on a $620 bond.
