FBI source: Bureau investigating Columbia Police Department

Former Columbia Police Captain

COLUMBIA (WACH)- A FBI source confirms to WACH the bureau is investigating the Columbia Police Department.

This stems from allegations made last week by former police Captain David Navarro, who accused Interim Police Chief Ruben Santiago of coercing him to plant drugs in a car owned by Assistant City Manager Allison Baker to incriminate Baker and have him dismissed from the city.

WACH Fox called the FBI for comment. The statement we were given is "the FBI takes all allegations of public corruption seriously, and cannot confirm or deny if the (bureau) is investigating anyone."
