Flash flooding a concern heading into the weekend

Columbia (WACH) -- "Rain, rain, go away," seems to be the phrase most heard around the Midlands these days.

Unfortunately, a frontal boundary has stalled over the area which means rain and thunderstorms will be hanging around a little longer.

A saturated atmosphere, plus a stationary front overhead will bring widespread, heavy rain and thunderstorms as we head into the weekend.

2-4 additional inches of rainfall are expected as we head into the weekend.

Remember, never try and drive through standing water on a road. You never know if the road under the water has been washed away or not.

Typical weather for July should return by the middle of next week.
