Florence County school clerk charged with forgery

TIMMONSVILLE, S.C. (AP) -- The acting financial clerk for Florence School District 4 has been arrested and charged with forging several checks for thousands of dollars.
Sheriff's deputies have charged 46-year-old Teresa Maria Price of in Timmonsville with four counts of forgery.
Deputies say Price wrote four unauthorized checks to fake businesses and endorsed the checks herself. The checks were written between last July and this May. They totaled more than $10,000.
School Superintendent Andre Boyd says he requested an investigation as soon as he discovered financial discrepancies.
Boyd says Price is on unpaid leave while the charges are pending.
It was not clear if Price has an attorney.
