Former N. Charleston officer due back in court Friday
CHARLESTON, SC (WACH) – The former officer accused of shooting and killing a driver after a traffic stop in North Charleston will be back in court Friday.
Attorneys for former officer Michael Slager will gather together to discuss pending motions in the case.
A second hearing is scheduled for Monday to discuss allowing certain experts to testify.
These hearings are scheduled ahead of his federal trial beginning next month, where Slager is facing civil rights charges.
He’s accused of violating Scott’s right to be free from unreasonable force, using a firearm during that crime and obstruction of justice.
A judge declared a mistrial in his state murder case back in December. That retrial is set to begin in August.
