Fraendy & Claflin students travel to D.C. for March on Washington

The nation is set to celebrate Martin Luther King's historic "I Have a Dream Speech" this Saturday.

COLUMBIA (WACH) -- Fraendy Clervaud will be traveling with Claflin University students and faculty as the university participates in the National Action to Realize the Dream March.

The event is to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington.

The late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, gave his historical â??I Have a Dream Speechâ?? on August 28, 1963 at the Lincoln Memorial.

Claflin University President Dr. Henry N. Tisdale remembers when Claflin University was one of the epicenters for civil rights, and that many students participated in the historic event.

"Participating in Saturdays march is a continuation of a tradition of social consciousness among Claflin students," says Dr. Henry Tisdale, President Claflin University.
