Funnel cloud spotted, storms cause damage

COLUMBIA (WACH) -- A strong storm system rolled through the Midlands Monday afternoon with reports of at least one funnel cloud.

The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for Richland, Lee, Lancaster, Sumter and Clarendon County, all of which have expired.

The storm cells moving easterly downed trees and damaged mobile homes and other structures.

Robbie Baker with the Sumter Emergency Management Division told WACH Fox News that a funnel cloud was spotted near Broad and West Wesmark Streets in Sumter.

Residents also report flooding, lightning, fires and strong winds in excess of 60 miles per hour.

SCE&G says they have around 1,700 outages at this time.
