Gamecock fans tailgating before season opener

The smell of freshly grilled burgers and hotdogs filled the air as Gamecock fans, dressed in their best Garnet and Black, waited patiently for kickoff.

COLUMBIA, SC (WACH) - The smell of freshly grilled burgers and hotdogs filled the air as Gamecock fans, dressed in their best Garnet and Black, waited patiently for kickoff.

"I just bought a new car to tailgate with," said Heath Greene, a proud Gamecock fan. "I just bought my new tent. Everything is new."

Greene is a 1992 graduate of USC, and says he has no expectations for the team this season.

"I know what we are going to do. We are going to be in Atlanta come December playing Alabama for the SEC Championship," said Greene.

The Gamecocks started the game against the Tarheels, scoring the first touch down.

Rain began to come down after the third quarter started, causing delays.

Once the rain lifted, Gamecocks were able to finish out the game, defeating the Tarheels 27 to 10.
