Gamecock football player arrested for disorderly conduct

Columbia,SC (WACH) -A Gamecock football player was arrested in Columbia's Five Points district Thursday night.

According to a Columbia Police incident report, Byron Jerideau was sitting on Harden Street. Jerideau attempted to stop traffic so he and a group of people could cross Harden Street in the middle of the block.

An officer heard officer Jerideau trying to stop traffic so a large group of people could cross Harden Street mid-block.

When an officer stopped him, Jerideau used profanity, and had the smell of alcohol. The report goes on to state it took a total of three officers to take Jerideau into custody.

Jerideau was then taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center. He is charged Disorderly Conduct and Pedestrian Unlawfully in Roadway.

WACH contacted USC officials for comment. No personnel were immidiately available for comment. Following an arrest, University athletes are immediately suspended until their case is adjudicated.
