Some of the brothers of USC's Beta Theta Pi stand on Strom Field Tuesday as the plan a run supporting the eight-year-old victim in the Boston explosions.

COLUMBIA (WACH) -- The brothers of Beta Theta Pi at the University of South Carolina sponsored a group run to show support for Boston after the tragedy at the Boston Marathon.

They are asking everyone who attends to wear red, white and blue in honor of Patriot's Day

The event is called "Gamecocks Run for Boston."

The run/walk took place Thursday at Strom Field at 6 p.m.

Runners made laps around the field in honor of runners and victims at the Boston Marathon.

"Being from the Boston area, it was just something that we felt we needed to do," said Luke Flanagan, one of the event organizers. "We really said, 'You know what? We want to do something and we want to make this big."

"Gamecocks Run for Boston" T-shirts were available for purchase. All proceeds from the run went to the family of Martin Richard, the little boy who lost his life in the explosions.
