Earth Day is today and in celebration of that, the Richland County Recreation Commission opened their Green Thumb Community Garden Thursday afternoon.
The garden has been designed for children and adults with special needs and senior groups.
Both plant beds are wheelchair accessible and that makes volunteers happy.
"I watched my grandmother garden for so long, but all I did was pull the weeds. Now I can actually be the planter," says Lishawn Moore, volunteer.
Students from Blythwood and W.J. Keenan High School helped plant the garden. It's located at the Denny Terrace Community Center on Bishop Avenue.
