Former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich is in South Carolina helping state Rep. Tim Scott raise money for his bid for Congress.
Gingrich will be at a Friday evening event in Charleston with Scott supporters paying at least $500 a seat and sponsors at least $2,000 at a downtown restaurant.
Gingrich will also be at a fundraiser for the South Carolina Republican party in Columbia earlier in the day. That event a few blocks from the Statehouse costs $50 a person with sponsors paying at least $1,000.
Gingrich is a conservative issues spokesman and a possible 2012 presidential candidate.
Gingrich has been raising money for GOP candidates around the country.
