COLUMBIA (WACH/AP) -- Governor Nikki Haley will deliver the State of the State address to a joint session of the General Assembly, state and local leaders, and invited dignitaries at 7pm this evening.
The Republican governor will likely focus on jobs and education in her speech. Haley has said her top priority this year is her education initiative. It would spend an additional $177 million in the coming fiscal year on K-12 public schools.
This year's speech comes as Haley seeks re-election.
She'll likely thank legislators for finally passing a government restructuring bill that she's been fighting for since her 2010 campaign.
The bill approved Tuesday creates a new, Cabinet-level Department of Administration that gives the governor's office oversight of many of the bureaucratic functions of government such as property and fleet management.
State Representative James Smith (D-Columbia) will deliver the Democratic Response immediately following the address.
WACH Fox will have a complete recap and reaction to the address online and tonight on WACH Fox News at Ten.
