Green Party candidate starts campaigning for U.S. Senate Race

Jim DeMint has been a U.S. Senator for South Carolina since 2005.

Tom Clements of the Green Party is challenging Republican Jim DeMint and Democrat Alvin Greene in November.

Clements, an environmental activist was affirmed by the Green Party convention in early May and all paperwork has been properly filed with the S.C. Election Commission.

Watching the primaries from the sidelines, Clements says the candidate controversy with Greene has generated some interest in his candidacy.

I am just a working person who is concerned about things, says Clements. I have been an activist, so I know how the political system works. I have also been involved in politics from a lobbying, research and advocacy standpoint, so I feel that I am quite prepared for this job.

Clements is pushing for energy reform and reducing the nation TMs debt.
