COLUMBIA -- A Greenville County man is dead after a shooting early Christmas morning.

Greenville County deputies say the shooting happened around 12:30 a.m. Friday in the parking lot of the Parkwest Apartments.

The coroner identified the victim as 29-year-old Raphael Dodd. Deputies are still investigating, but said initial indications suggest a verbal argument in the parking lot let to the shooting.

Deputies are seeking Julian Deandre Battle, 26, of Taylors, and Clinton Dupree Owens, 26, of Greenville.

Witnesses told deputies Owens and a woman were arguing when Dodd tried to defuse the situation. Dodd then began arguing with Owens and Battle, deputies said.

Battle became enraged and shot Dodd, witnesses told investigators.

A murder warrant was issued for Owens. Battle is being sought on charges of murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

Battle and Owens were seen leaving the scene in a late 1990s white Ford Crown Victoria with tinted windows and a raised suspension. The suspects are believed to be armed.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Battle and Owens or this case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
