GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) -- Greenville County sheriff's deputies have arrested a security guard at a motel and charged him with murder in a shooting death earlier this month.
Deputies say the shooting just before 11 p.m. in the parking lot of a motel March 12 was improper, given the circumstances.
Stephen Harry has been charged with murder in the death of 28-year-old Ledrekuis Fontez Sloan.
Deputies were called to the motel and found Sloan dead in the driver's seat of a car.
Deputies think Harry had responded to a disturbance in the parking lot and fired at least one shot into the car.
AP Professional Security says it regrets the loss of life. The company says Harry was certified by the State Law Enforcement Division.
It was not clear if he has an attorney.
