Greenville Officer Allen Lee Jacobs and other fallen heroes honored in Memorial Service

South Carolina has a day to remember our fallen heroes.

Law enforcement agencies from around the state gathered at the Criminal Justice Academy in Columbia, S.C. on Wednesday to remember officers who passed away in 2016.

There was scripture readings, a call to remembrance, tolling of the bell and retiring of colors.

There was also a very special memorial message in remembrance of Greenville Officer Allen Lee Jacobs who was killed on the line of duty last March and all our other fallen heroes.

"For they each lived a life of meaning. They each lived a life of service and a career they embraced with love. They're examples that their lives should motivate us all to do more and to be better for each other and for all," says Greenville Police Chief Ken Miller.

This is not the only day you can remember your fallen heroes.

National Officers' Memorial Day is coming up on May 15.
