COLUMBIA (WACH) -- State Representative Nikki Haley has moved into the lead in the race to become the Republican nominee for Governor, according to a new poll.
The Rasmussen Reports poll of likely Republican primary voters released Thursday showed Haley as a clear favorite with 30 percent, nearly a 20 point spike following Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin's endorsement of her campaign last week.
Attorney General Henry McMaster and Representative Gresham Barrett are in a close race for the second spot, polling at 19 percent and 17 percent, respectively.
Lt. Governor Andre Bauer received the support of 12 percent of those polled.
Three-percent supported some other candidate, while 18 percent were undecided.
The poll is a large shift from the March poll. In that poll Haley only saw 12 percent support. McMaster lead that poll with 21 percent of the vote at that time, Bauer had 17 percent and Barrett had 14 percent.
The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95 percent level of confidence.
