Heat to remain high after tying record temps Sun.

COLUMBIA (WACH) -- It looks like the extreme heat will hang on for a few more days after tying Sunday's record high of 101 degrees.

According to WACH Fox Weather Anchor Justin Kier, the temperatures should remain in the mid to upper 90s through mid-week.

The silver lining will be the slight cool-down when afternoon scattered storms roll through the Midlands dropping temperatures by a few degrees.

Monday at 2:00 the official heat index registered at 107 degrees at Owens Field Airport in Columbia and 110 at Shaw Air Force Base and in Orangeburg.

Heat advisories remain in effect for Midlands counties throughout the day Monday.
