Helping the homeless this Christmas Eve

COLUMBIA (WACH) - Samurai Karate on Clemson Road is doing its part to help the homeless this holiday season.

The studio has been collecting blankets, food, and toiletries as part of their Holiday Homeless Service Project.

On Saturday they began to assemble what they call "Blessing Bags", which include all of these items.

The bags will be distributed on Christmas Eve with the help of a special guest.

And the whole experience is very emotional for everyone involved.

"It's overwhelming, really. We bring a Santa Claus out with us - we have someone dressed as Santa Claus. And when we get out of the car and Santa Claus is with us, they just can't believe their eyes. They start crying, we start crying. It's just amazing. Amazing." says Randy Baccomo from Samurai Karate Studio.

If you are interested in helping out, the group will begin distributing the bags on Christmas Eve at Finlay Park around 6:30 p.m.
