COLUMBIA (WACH) - A motorcyclist is dead after being hit and killed Saturday in what the Highway Patrol said is a hit and run.

Lance Corporal Judd Jones with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said Robert Soland III of Chapin was run over while on his motorcycle by a driver in a blue GMC Terrain at about 8:20 p.m. on Broad River Road near Bickley Road near Ballentine. The vehicle may also be missing a plastic rear hitch area cover

Richland County Coroner Gary Watts said Soland was killed by multiple traumas associated with the wreck.

Jones said the GMC ran over Soland after he had already wrecked his motorcycle.
