Homeless day of service in Columbia

COLUMBIA S.C. (WACH) " Transitions clients and other volunteers teamed up Saturday for a project wrapping up Homelessness and Hunger Awareness week in Columbia.

It's part of their Famously Aware 2011 campaign, and Saturday's project was a Homeless Day of Service.

Groups hit the streets to clean up different areas around the capital city.

John Dawkins volunteer manager for Transitions says, "We're trying to create a communication bridge between those people who are homeless and those people who have houses to get them together doing service work together so its not necessarily us serving you."

On Thanksgiving from 11 a.m to 3 p.m Transitions will serve 500 meals sponsored by Cowboy Brazilian Restaurant. Volunteers are needed, and if you are interested click here.
