COLUMBIA (WACH) - Authorities are investigating a suspicious package reported by a homeowner on Nunamaker Drive in Columbia.
The report came in just before 11 a.m. Thursday.
The Richland County Sheriff's Department and Columbia-Richland Fire Department are on the scene.
The Battalion Chief says they are taking precautions to secure the area and the package.
WACH Fox reporter Garrett Bedenbaugh says crews yelled, "Fire in the hole" before conducting a controlled detonation around 11:15 a.m..
The detonation was a precaution. Officials say the item was not hazardous.
