COLUMBIA (WACH) ?? House Speaker Bobby Harrell addressed the Attorney General's decision to send his review of a state police report on ethics allegations to the State Grand Jury on Tuesday morning.
Harell says that he did nothing wrong, and that this is part of a smear campaign that was released in suspicious timing on the eve of the Legislative Session.
The State Speaker of the House of Representatives wants the Attorney General to ask the State Law Enforcement Division to release the report in it's entirety so that nothing is taken out of context.
At Attorney General Alan Wilson's request, state police began looking at the case after South Carolina Policy Council President Ashley Landess alleged the Charleston Republican used his office to boost his finances by using influence to get a permit for his pharmaceutical business.
The libertarian thinks tank also took issue with Harrell appointing his brother to a committee that screens judicial candidates.
A month ago, Wilson's office received what it called a "voluminous" report from the State Law Enforcement Division.
