COLUMBIA (WACH) - University of South Carolina Athletics Director Eric Hyman is reportedly a candidate for the University of Tennessee athletics director job.Nashville TMs primary daily newspaper, The Tennessean, published an article Friday citing Hyman as a target for the new AD job at UT.From the article :While current athletics director Steve Orsini of SMU has been mentioned prominently in some reports, it is believed that there is a bigger name on UT TMs list. And key members of UT TMs search committee have expressed optimism that an agreement with this person will be struck in the next couple of weeks. The target could be Eric Hyman of South Carolina. And while I TMm not a big fan of hiring within the conference, Hyman is well respected around the SEC. Plus, he knows the turf.
According to USC spokesperson Steve Fink, Hyman does not comment on these types of matters.Hyman has been athletics director in Columbia since 2005.
Former UT athletic director Mike Hamilton resigned on June 7, after the university was charged with major violations in football and men TMs basketball.
