Victim of September Vista shooting attends suspect's hearing to find answers
One of the men charged in last month's Vista shooting was in court Monday. 22-year-old Maleik Houseal is one of four suspects in the shooting. He's facing federal gun charges connected to the crime.
Kirstie Logan is one of eight people injured that night. She had knee surgery and has to use crutches every day. She's also doing physical therapy three times a week.
"I really try not to think about the night but it's hard on everyone and myself. Everything has changed," says Logan.
While adjusting to a new lifestyle, Logan things about what happened the night everything changed, which brings her to the courtroom hoping for answers.
An investigator at the county court says Houseal's decision to shoot was initially self-defense and part of an ongoing dispute from Newberry, SC. He also confirmed Houseal had no certified weapons permit at the time of the shooting. The judge ruled there is sufficient evidence to establish probable cause. Houseal's trial is set for a later date.
"I was just curious as to why we were in that situation. I'm not angry. it's hard. it's very hard," says Logan.
