IRMO, SC (WACH ) - Irmo's police chief is back on the job after a four day suspension.
Irmo Town administrator Robert Brown confirmed to WACH-Fox News that Chief of Police Brian Buck is back from a four day suspension.
WACH Fox spoke to Buck after an Irmo Town Council meeting Tuesday.
"I sent an email to the police department staff saying that I was going to take Wednesday the 13th off I forgot to place my supervisor Bob Brown the Town Administrators name on the email so I took the day off on Wednesday and he did not know about it. I have served a four day suspension for doing that, it is my fault for not having told him that I was going to be out of town," said Chief Buck.
According to documents obtained by wach fox news buck was the only person with the key to an evidence locker while he was gone.
Paperwork shows items from that locker were needed for a couple cases that day and a judge had to issue a continuance in those cases because there was no access to evidence.
Buck was ultimately suspended for failing to tell his supervisor he was taking the day off.
Chief Buck says the whole situation was an honest mistake.
