COLUMBIA (WACH) - The 282nd Army Band from Fort Jackson performed in Columbia Sunday morning at the Columbia First Church of the Nazarene in honor of Memorial Day.
The performance celebrated the lives of those who have given the ultimate sacrifice while serving the United States of America.
Guest Speaker Col. Joseph McLamb encouraged those in attendance to remember the meaning of Memorial Day and those who have served.
"You will not be forgotten; we pledge to those with whom we have served," said McLamb. " We will remember you; not with pity, but with pride."
MSG. Charles Stephen Steele, who served 40 years with the South Carolina National Guard, said the performance was overwhelming.
"It brought tears to my eyes," said Steele.
