Jasper County Sheriff's Office reports possible sighting of escaped Georgia inmates

Switzerland, S.C. (WTGS FOX28) — Jasper County Sheriff Chris Malphrus has confirmed there has been a reported possible sighting of the two escaped Georgia inmates accused of killing two correctional officers Monday.

Sheriff Malphrus said a truck driver, who had pulled off to a rest area at mile marker 17 on Interstate 95 on Thursday, called in to report the possible sighting of Donnie Rowe and Ricky Dubose.

While deputies have not located the two, Malphrus said the description the driver gave "matches them to a T."

He said they have called in a helicopter, four dog teams, and several law enforcement agencies to search the area.

The Ridgeland Police Department, South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, South Carolina Department of Corrections, Berkeley County Sheriff's Office, Colleton County Sheriff's Office, South Carolina Highway Patrol, SLED, and the U.S. Marshals office is assisting in the search.
