COLUMBIA (WACH) -- Democrat Kevin Johnson and Republican Sonny Sanders will face off in the April 5 general election to succeed Cathy Harvin as House District 64 representative.

Johnson topped a four-candidate field that included former U.S. Senate candidate Alvin Greene. Sanders defeated Derry Beard in the GOP primary.

Greene finished a distant fourth in Tuesday's primary, getting less than 1% of the vote.

House District 64 represents Clarendon and Williamsburg counties.

Representative Harvin, a Democrat, passed away December 4th from breast cancer opening a special election for the seat. Harvin won seat in a special election taking over after her husband, who had previously held the district, passed away.
