K-9 tracks down two suspected carjackers

Telvin Grayson

COLUMBIA (WACH) - Interim Chief Ruben Santiago announces that two men have been arrested in connection with a carjacking investigation after a brief police pursuit and successful K-9 track. Telvin Grayson and James Davis are charged with Carjacking, Attempted Armed Robbery, and Possession of a Weapon during the Commission of a Violent Crime. Grayson, the driver is also charged with Failure to Stop for Blue Lights. Both suspects are accused of stealing an SUV from a male victim at gunpoint this afternoon.

A CPD officer spotted a vehicle at the intersection of Harden Street and Colonial Drive. That vehicle matched the description provided by Dispatchers of the one stolen from the 1400 block of Marion Street. As part of the initiated traffic stop, the officer activated the blue lights and siren but Grayson allegedly did not stop. Instead he continued driving and after a few blocks, both suspects bailed out of the vehicle on Adams Street while it was still in motion. The vehicle crashed into a fence. No one was injured.

The suspects were tracked by K-9 Units to a High Street home. Grayson and Davis were arrested there and taken to CPD HQ for questioning. A gun was recovered from the vehicle. A check of the weapon shows that it is NOT reported stolen. The gun was seized by officers.

Grayson and Davis were transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
