COLUMBIA (WACH) - Taking little Preston to the park is something Nella Taylor does very often throughout the week, but ensuring her grandson's safety as he plays is something she's always mindful of.
"Sometimes with the creek area on the bottom, rocks and things, I don't let him go that way," said Taylor.
The creek isn't Taylor's only concern. Potentially hot equipment is also a concern, as the weather begins to heat up.
Taylor says she uses her hand to determine the temperature of playground equipment.
According to the CDC, more than 200,000 children ages 14 and younger, are taken to emergency rooms for playground related injuries every year.
