COLUMBIA (WACH) â?? Kershaw County Sheriff Jim Matthews filed for re-election today and unveiled a four-minute announcement video detailing his vision for a safer Kershaw County.
â??Weâ??ve made a tremendous amount of progress in four years,â?? said Sheriff Matthews. â??But there is much more to do to better protect our neighbors, their children and our future generations.â??
In the video above, Sheriff Matthews recaps his first term as Kershaw County Sheriff and outlines his plan for moving Kershaw County forward over the next four years.
Since Sheriff Matthews took office in 2011, heâ??s made over 400 DUI arrests and won two statewide awards for DUI enforcement. Heâ??s also made 1000 drug arrests and cleaned up several notorious drug areas throughout Kershaw County.
Sheriff Matthews plans to continue to focus on cracking down on illegal drugs, deterring DUIâ??s and Modern Law Enforcement.
