SANDY RUN, SC (WACH) - The suspect in a Columbia kidnapping has been found dead in Calhoun County.
According to Maj. Tim Stephenson with the Calhoun County Sheriff's Department, a passer-by called deputies early Wednesday afternoon after spotting a pick-up truck sitting idle on a dirt road off of U.S. 176 in the Sandy Run community.
When deputies arrived to the truck, they found a 2002 Chevrolet Colorado with James Murphy Brigman, 40, inside. Brigman was dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
The Columbia Police Department named Brigman as a suspect in a kidnapping that occurred on Greystone Blvd Tuesday night.
Brigman was expected to be charged with kidnapping, criminal sexual conduct and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime
The victim in the kidnapping was found Tuesday evening in Calhoun County and taken to a local hospital for treatment.
