LEXINGTON (WACH) -- Lexington County public safety departments will be out on Lake Murray Wednesday afternoon, but not in search of that elusive bass or perfect tan.
Members of the LCSD Dive Team, Lake Murray Marine Patrol, and SWAT are joining tactical flight officers and Lex. Co. Emergency Medical Services marine paramedics to conduct aerial rescue training exercises at about 1 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.Lexington Co. Sheriff James Metts said officers will practice using short-haul rescue equipment SCE&G bought for the LCSD. The equipment will enable deputies to use a helicopter to rescue people who need assistance in the Saluda River, other waterways, or isolated/flooded areas in Lexington Co. Sheriff Metts says the department also has a basket that can be tethered to the helicopter to transport injured people to the hospital. Related Stories...
