Lexington Co. officials looking for missing man
LEXINGTON COUNTY (WACH) -- Deputies are still trying to locate a missing 43-year-old Chapin man who was last seen earlier this month.
Officials with the Lexington County Sheriff's Department say John Henry Mayers was last seen at his parents' home on Skylark Lane on May 7 when he left on foot to check into rehab for a drug addiction.
Before he was about to leave, he got a phone call and left on foot to meet the unknown person on the other end of the line according to his father, Charles Mayers.
Mayers' family says it is out of character for him not to check in and they tell investigators they are worried about his well-being.
Mayers is described as a 5'10" black male weighing around 240 pounds with a scar running from his left ear to his forehead. He was last seen wearing a light blue shirt and dark blue pants.
Deputies have conducted several searches including some by helicopter.
Officials ask that anyone with information on Mayers' whereabouts to call CrimeStoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
