Lexington County man arrested for beating 3-year-old

COLUMBIA (WACH) â?? Lexington County Sheriffs Department deputies arrested a 53-year-old Gaston man who is accused of punching a 3-year-old boy several times, causing a fracture in the boyâ??s right hip and a seizure.
The boy also suffered severe bruises on his face upper torso, and lower torso.
Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said deputies arrested Michael Anthony Still on an arrest warrant on a charge of inflicting great bodily harm upon a child.
Under South Carolina law, inflicting great bodily harm upon a child is a felony that carries a maximum punishment of 20 years in prison.
Still was being held on Monday at the Lexington County Detention Center while awaiting a bond hearing, Metts said.
Still was alone at the home with the 3-year-old boy, and was responsible for the well-being of the 3-year old.
Deputies went to the Gaston home at about 8:45pm on Sunday to investigate a report that the 3-year-old had been assaulted. The 3-year-old had already been taken to Childrenâ??s Hospital at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital for medical treatment.
The motive for the incident remains under investigation.
