Lexington pair face charges for possessing stolen property

LEXINGTON (WACH)â??Two Lexington men are facing charges of possessing a stolen riding lawnmower and handgun.

According to Lexington County Spokesman John Allard, 26-year-old Travis Leon Horton and 26-year-old Charles Heyward Spires were arrested on Tuesday and charged with receiving stolen goods.

According to the Sheriffâ??s Department arrest warrants, the two men possessed a Craftsman riding lawnmower that was stolen August 27 from a home on Bluefield Road near Lexington. Horton and Spires, according to court documents also possessed a 9-mm Diamondback handgun stolen June 15 from a home on Bushberry Road near Pelion and a motorcycle license plate stolen from South Lake Drive.

Horton also faces charges of operating a clandestine methamphetamine laboratory, possession of heroin, marijuana, four handguns, and unlawfully possessing a prescription painkiller, stemming from a September 4 arrest.

On September 7, Spires was arrested for possessing four stolen fishing boats, and stealing three guitars, and a flat-screen TV from a home on Stephanie Drive.

Horton is being held on $105,000 bond and Spires bond totals $47,130.
