Lexington parents question school district's grading policy

Parents of some Lexington District One students expressed their concern at a school board meeting Monday.

LEXINGTON, SC (WACH) - Parents showed up in numbers to voice their concerns about the new grading system, "Grading for Learning", which focuses on the test scores, instead of class participation, homework, and extra credit.

Fearful of the future impact the program can have on their children, some parents are even considering taking them out of the district, if concerns are not addressed.

One parent explained the exhaust her family has experienced from the program. She described it as an "unhappy home".

The board did not come up with an approach to handling the concerns addressed at the meeting.
