Lexington police arrest three teens for burglary

Lexington County Sheriffâ??s Department detectives arrested one 17-year-old Lexington man, one 18-year-old Lexington man and one 19-year-old Batesburg man on charges that the three men broke into three different homes.
Detectives arrested Alexander Jeffcoat, 17, Colin Soles, 18, and Zachary Varney,19 on two counts each of first-degree burglary, one count each of second-degree burglary and one count each of criminal conspiracy. Jeffcoat, Soles and Varney each are being held at the Lexington County Detention Center on bail totaling $320,000 for each inmate.
Between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Friday Jeffcoat, Soles and Varney forced open the rear door of a home on Turtle Cove Court, Metts said. The three men stole one .357-caliber revolver, one 9-mm semi-automatic handgun and one 12-gauge shotgun worth a combined total of $1,000. Detectives later recovered some of the firearms, which were found in a motor vehicle in which Jeffcoat, Soles and Varney were riding.
Police say between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Friday Jeffcoat, Soles and Varney forced open the rear door of a home on Hatton Lane and stole two firearms, one iPad tablet computer and two cameras, Metts said. Detectives later recovered some of the stolen items, which were found in a car in which Jeffcoat, Soles and Varney were riding.
Also, just after 3:00PM on Friday Jeffcoat, Soles and Varney tried to force open the rear door of a home on Brandon Court, Metts said. The homeowner was home at the time of the burglary and reported the incident to the Sheriffâ??s Department, providing deputies with a description of the men who tried to break into her home as well as a description of the red Ford Explorer sport-utility vehicle that the men drove away in.
Shortly after the burglary occurred at the Brandon Court home, Detective Steve Collins conducted a traffic stop on the red Ford Explorer on Hickory Trace Court, which is within one mile of the home on Brandon Court, Metts said. Collins placed Jeffcoat, Soles and Varney in investigative detention. The Brandon Court homeowner positively identified Varney as the man who tried to force open the rear door of her home. Collins later arrested Jeffcoat, Soles and Varney.
