Lexington students weld masterprices for County Detention Center

About 30 Lexington students are leaving a positive mark at the Lexington County Detention Center and they didn't even have to go to jail.

The students are taking a welding class at the Lexington Technology Center and have spent two years constructing a total of 12 iron tables specially designing, welding and producing the tables as a way to give back to the community.

"These are going inside the walls of our detention center so we told the students that we hope this is the last time they see these tables. So we'll get them painted up and put them back there and put them to good use." says Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon.

By the students making the iron tables for the Lexington County Detention Center, they have saved tax payers about $20,000.
