Longtime AHA volunteer passes away
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH) -- "No matter what she had going, she's never let that stop her or bring her down."
That's what people are saying about Sabrina Brown, a dedicated volunteer at the American Heart Association, who passed away on Thursday. After being diagnosed with congestive heart failure in 2007, she volunteered for the past five years and left a mark on those around her. Valerie Bridges, executive director of AHA, has nothing but positive things to say about Brown. In addition to her praises on Brown's tenacity, she also admires her personality.
"She had an energy that was pretty rare. Especially for someone that has many health struggles like Sabrina had. But no matter where we were or what she was asked to do, she came in an lit up the room and did it with a passion."
Brown worked through her diagnosis. Now, Bridges continues to take inspiration from how Brown lived life.
"Even though she was struggling with health issues, she still showed up and helped us and helped others. And made a difference in our lives and we're all going to miss her very dearly."
